British rock band Bush always had more success in the US than in their home country. The UK was swept up in Britpop fever in the mid-90s, so Bush found more fans in America where grunge bands like Pearl Jam and Soundgarden were more popular than groups like Oasis or Blur. Five singles were released off Bush's debut album Sixteen Stone (1994) for the American market, and each went Top 5 in the Modern Rock Chart. The album went on to sell six million copies in the US.
